The Magical Monkey Makery offers hands-on creative workshops that are free to the public and bring the power—and pleasure—
of making directly into communities.

In partnership with public libraries, community centers, and other civic institutions, the Makery expands access within the neighborhoods these institutions serve—removing barriers and welcoming people
of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. The Makery believes that creative expression
is a deeply human capacity we all share—and that it grows stronger when we experience it together.

The workshops are led by Jersey City–based creative director, artist, and educator Roswitha Rodrigues, whose nearly three decades teaching at the School of Visual Arts in New York City—and leading creative workshops across the U.S., Europe, and Asia—inform the program’s depth and integrity. The Makery brings professional artistic practice together with an inclusive, community-centered spirit rooted in curiosity, play, shared discovery, and personal agency.
